Floods

Flooded Neighborhood
What is a flood?

Floods are events caused by an excessive amount of water accumulating in areas that are typically dry. This excess water can come from overflowing rivers or lakes, or from heavy rainfall that overwhelms the ground's ability to absorb it. When this happens, the water spills out onto land, causing significant disruption and damage to property and infrastructure. Floods can also have a devastating impact on agriculture and natural ecosystems.

Preparation

To prepare for a flood, make sure to closely monitor weather reports and updates from local authorities. Pack emergency kits, important documents, medications, and essential items. Before the flood comes you want to make sure to fully charge your essential electronics because you might need them to make calls or as a light source.

Safety

Evacuate if your area is under an evacuation order and head to designated shelters or higher ground if instructed by officials. Never drive or walk through flooded roads, follow designated evacuation routes to avoid traffic congestion and delays, and stay away from electrical wires or flooded appliances. To be more safe and not risk anything you should leave before the flood starts with the items/things listed above as you wouldn't want to get stranded.
